Foundation Spatial Data
In 2007, the QLIS Standard Foundation Information 1995 was revised by the QSIC Foundation Spatial Data Working Group to reflect the current needs of the spatial information industry.
The QSIC Foundation Spatial Data Standard 2009 is now available. The base level description document referred to in the Standard is being finalised.
On 1 July 2009, the Government introduced new Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy legislation (Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009).
The RTI aims to make more information available, provide equal access to information across all sectors of the community, and provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy.
In support of the objectives of RTI legislation, QSIC is facilitating the coordination of access to foundation spatial data so that it is readily available.
