In 2007, ANZLIC released an Australian version (ANZLIC Metadata Profile version 1.1) of the international metadata standard ISO 19115. This was an outcome of a project to develop a single Geographic Metadata Profile for Australia and New Zealand.

ANZLIC have recently released a new Metadata Entry Tool application that allows the creation, update and validation of metadata records. This application supports the ANZLIC Metadata Profile Version 1.1 and is based on GeoNetwork open source software, and further developed by the BlueNet Project.

QSIC developed a suite of metadata entry tools in 2003 that complied with the previous ANZLIC profile. This tool, however, does not comply with the new ANZLIC Metadata Profile version 1.1.  QSIC metadata records in XML can be converted into the new ANZLIC Metadata Profile XML using the following link.
